Wolfram/Alpha is coming

Remember on Star Trek how Captain Kirk could as his computer questions and get an answer? That day is arriving momentarily with the Wolfrum/Alpha computer. Sure, you can google for information. But here we are talking about the computer that can provide new information. For example, you can ask the computer to compare the height of Mt. Everest with the length of the Golden Gate bridge and get an answer. Google can't do that.

The Wolfram/Alpha website is accessible to everyone yet, but it will be soon.

Check out this video on the Wolfram/alpha computer.

sorry, I don't know how to send you an email via your web site except by leaving a comment. Since I find your scientific and skeptical perspective interesting and refreshing, I thought you'd like to say something about the fact that the EPA is going to finally test the effects of pesticides on the endrocrine system.

Of course I always support more science. You cannot make a valid decision without evidence and more evidence allows for a better decision to be made.

It is likely that pesticides, especially DDE, affect thyroid and androgen levels in humans. There is evidence to support that statement. The unanswered question is what is the actual effect of pesticide exposure in humans? Moreover, what is the risk-benefit ratio of pesticide use vs human exposure. I'm not certain we know the answers to those questions yet.
