This is very good news. A lobbying group has quickly been formed whose purpose is to raise $20 million for renovation of the train line that runs between Utica and Lake Placid. Parts of the line are already successfully operated by Adirondack Scenic Railroad. Operating a tourist train over the entire 141 miles would open a world of possibilities. Wouldn't it be great to have a recreation trail built along the entire 141 miles as well? Links to photos, history and other websites concerning this stretch of rail can be found here.
If you are a real Adirondack railroad 'buff' visit this website.
