Misdirected Conservative Rage

Here is a post by conservative economist Bruce Bartlett at the Daily Beast.
Until conservatives once again hold Republicans to the same standard they hold Democrats, they will have no credibility and deserve no respect.

Remote Area Medical - In LA???

Ever hear of Remote Area Medical?
The Remote Area Medical® (RAM) Volunteer Corps is a non-profit, volunteer, airborne relief corps dedicated to serving mankind by providing free health care, dental care, eye care, veterinary services, and technical and educational assistance to people in remote areas of the United States and the world.
Their original purpose was to provide health care services to remote, underserved areas of the USA (such as Appalachia). Now they are starting to make trips to major cities in the USA, such as LA.

I guess the USA still has regions that are like third world countries.....sad.

Democrats to Declare Martial Law!!!!

Republican Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) has informed us that Democrats might declare martial law. (Let's see, is this a case of trusting or mistrusting a government official?)
He also spoke of a "socialistic elite" - Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid - who might use a pandemic disease or natural disaster as an excuse to declare martial law.

"They're trying to develop an environment where they can take over," he said. "We've seen that historically."
I've got to buy some stock in gun and ammunition stores.

Is This Really About Health Care Reform or Obama?

So the tea baggers and anti-health care reform folks have been out in force the past several days. They bring their Nazi swastikas and pictures of President Obama as hitler to town hall meetings where house representatives are present to answer questions. More recently they also bring their guns and their signs claiming the tree of liberty has to be refreshed with blood. They send threatening faxes to the offices of members of congress.

Ok, I get it. Some people don't want change and they don't want health care reform. Unfortunately, I'm not completely convinced this is entirely about health care. There is a rise in the number of militia groups in the USA. There is a run on the purchase of guns and ammunition. There is a rise in the level of hate speech.

Now you might expect these things to happen when a Democrat gets elected president. Things are made worse when Democrats take over both houses of Congress. But what about the 400% increase in death threats towards President Obama? Is that because he is a Democrat?

Republicans and conservatives used to campaign for smaller government. Government was too big. That all changed with the Reagan campaign for President. All of a sudden, not only was government too big....it was also bad. It was what was/is wrong with the USA. Being patriotic now means distrusting the government.

President Obama is a muslum, he is not a citizen, he "pals around with terrorists", he is going to take away our guns, he is just like Hitler, he wants to kill old and disabled US citizens.....where is this going to end?

I'm afraid of the answer to that question.

Don't Trust Government

Here's a few lines out of a Wall Street Journal article concerning President Obama's town hall meeting in NH.
Diane Campbell of Kingston, N.H., held a sign with Mr. Obama's face superimposed on a Nazi storm trooper, a sign, she said, that was made by her chronically ill mother.

Her mother's hereditary autoimmune disease is treated with expensive transfusions of gamma globulin, paid for by Medicare. Her sister, Louise, was born with no arms and one leg, and is also covered by Medicare, the government-run, health-insurance program for the elderly and disabled.

"Adolf Hitler was for exterminating the weak, not just the Jews and stuff, and socialism -- that's what's going to happen."

I'm really not sure what to think of Ms. Campbell. Maybe she is sincere in her belief that her mother and sister are going to be put to death after a death panel review. Because that is what she has heard on talk radio. Unfortunately, that is also what she has been told by Republican government (or ex-government in the case of Palin) officials.

Ms. Campbell has apparently trusted the government to take care of her mother and sister for years. Now all of a sudden she mistrusts government because they supposedly want to kill her mother and sister. Yet she trusts the lying words of various Republican government officials that this is exactly what is going to happen.

I'm Not Going to Take It Anymore

I've got to ask. Where were these angry people when President Bush lied us into an unnecessary war with Iraq? I'm guessing we are not going to get through the month of August without someone getting seriously hurt.

One important correction. I'm pretty sure Spector and other believers will stand before God, not the other way around. BTW, Spector is not a Christian.

What is all the anger about?

Obama is not a citizen.

Death panels.

Their takin away our freedom.

Budget deficits - forget that Reagan proved deficits don't matter and that Dick Armey said in 2004 "“I’m sitting here, and I’m upset about the deficit, and I’m upset about spending. There’s no way I can pin that on the Democrats. Republicans own the town now.”

Too bad we couldn't produce energy from stupid.

WH Enemies List

Can anyone tell me how I can rat out some of my relatives to the White House? I understand there is a health care reform opposition enemies list being compiled. I'm assuming the people on this list will be rounded up, in the near future, and made to appear before the new "Death Panel". Is the Obama administration also using the Bush domestic spying program to identify these health care reform dissidents?

BTW, does anyone know how one gets an appointment to the "death panel"?

More on the "Death Panel" from IBD

Cool article in Investor's Business Daily.
People such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn't have a chance in the U.K., where the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless.

I sure am happy that Stephen Hawking isn't a British citizen and doesn't live in Great Britain. Health care in the UK won't treat disabled people like Dr. Hawking. Now the same thing might happen to the disabled in the USA, the land of the free and the dumb (especially writers at IBD).

A Birther Proposed Compromise

President Obama can serve as President 3/5's of the time.

What Can I Say?

I was having a discussion with a non-blood relative yesterday about health care reform. Ok, it wasn't a discussion, it was an out and out argument. He is a retired (early) federal corrections officer who is drawing a taxpayer-funded retirement salary. He has taxpayer-funded health insurance for the rest of his life. Naturally, he is opposed to health care reform. Why? Because he doesn't want government to take over his health insurance, he doesn't want government bureaucrats telling his doctor what to do, he doesn't trust government.

So you suck the government tit for 25-30 years, take government paid retirement and health insurance and you don't trust government? You have to wonder why you worked for the untrustworthy government for so long?

Conservatives truly confound me. They had 8 years of Bush controlled government to make government smaller and more trustworthy. We got lied into an unnecessary war, lost a major Southern city to a hurricane, tortured people in a secure offshore military facility, gave back 1.8 trillion in potential tax dollars to the wealthy of us and put us in the most severe recession since the great depression. But that government was trustworthy. Now they want their government back, if you can believe that.

Hell, us hitler-loving, nazi, socialist, commies have only had six months to try out our ideas. How about giving us at least another 12 months to see if we can do as well as you conservatives did.

One more thing, I'm willing to compromise on health care reform. You support health care reform and I will support removing the part of the bill that proposes to euthanize old people (damn, there goes that soylent green idea).
