NY State Senator Betty Little knows more than most of us. We are lucky to have her. She thinks North Country Community College and Clinton Community College should be combined to save tax dollars. In fact, she has an "arm" of SUNY studying why that should be done. Forget that the Community Colleges are under community control. Little wants to save money....unless it has to do with closing local prisons. She is all in favor of keeping prisons opened....maybe because correction officer jobs pay more the community college professor positions. If there is an advantage to combining North Country and Clinton community colleges, why not combine every community college in the State and save some real money?
I'm not a big fan of Senator Little. I've only heard her speak once while at NCCC (and once prior to that a long time ago when she was explaining why only certified teachers should teach). She spent most of the opportunity explaining how Democrats are responsible for all our financial woes.....forgetting the the Governor and Senate have been under Republican control for many years now.

Although I'm not a year round resident and I certainly don't hear about everything that goes on politically, Sen. Little got my ire up pretty quick - She has a real knack for stating the popular obvious, rather than finding smart solutions.
Wouldn't be better to close the prisons *over a period of time* while implementing a plan for the communities that depend on those jobs? Planned re-use of the facilities? Nah. Just keep 'em open. Who needs progress?
