...if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal." Here's an easy one.
How many countries have not signed the Kyoto Protocol?
I'm sure that President McCain (maybe) will bring us Americans into the 20th Century.
178 countries have signed on. Only the USA has stated it has no intention of signing on. There are 15 countries, including China and the Vatican City who have no yet made up their minds.
the UK as well - we use all sorts of systems over here, we use MPH when driving but mostly we measure distances in KM, we weigh people in lbs, kgs and also stones (not sure which system that fits into) and then distances can be given in feet or meters depending on who you're talking to!
bfd--what's the big deal, why do, or should, we be like everybody else
The bfd (big @*#%'g deal) is that if Americans believes that we are the rightful leader of the world, then we should do what's right for the world, and stop being the spoiled rotten contrarians with the screw everyone attitude. Maybe we can aspire to greatness again. Maybe.
