...if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal." I don't think is quite fair to compare anti-civil rights idiots with simple anti-racial preferences for blacks or minorities in general. I think that if the problem is that black people and other minorities are disproportionally poor, then the preference criterion should be poverty, not race.
But, having said that, I'm also for some sort of anti-discriminatory fiscalization on job admissions (I have no idea on how that should be done, though, but I don't care much for ultra-libertarian rants on freedom of chosing whoever one wants for the job. It's not that can't be that, only that race can't be a factor. Perhaps government could examine all curriculi, and then compare it with the admissions, and fine people when they have too much rejected minorities with equal or superior qualifications).
Just trying to discriminate a bit on the other side to balance the things won't make anything more fair, only make more unfair for more people.
Disappointing, I like Maddow.
