USA vs Soviet Union - Economic Collapse

A really interesting, but scary, slide presentation by Dmitry Orlov here. He makes a very convincing argument that if the USA suffers economic collapse, we will suffer far more than the people of the old Soviet Union.

All I can say is "Duh." How well would a society that cares more about having the newest cell phone, the fastest (or biggest) car, TV's and DVD players in every room of their $500k house than actually providing for themselves and their neighbors deal with any kind of economic hard times? We'll have people pulling their hair out in the streets the second any of our "necessary" luxuries dissapear.
