It's easy to find a small group of Christian fanatics (or other group of right or left-wing fanatics) and use them as an example to smear an entire group of conservatives (or liberals) as ultra-right (or left) wing fanatics.
Does anyone in their right mind, Christian or Atheist believe that the members of the Westboro Baptist Church represent the views of the Baptist Church or conservatives? This group of so-called "Christians" only represent the most egregious form of hate and intolerance. It wouldn't be so bad if the members of this "church" stayed in Westboro, Kansas but no, they travel across the USA spreading their particular "Christian" brand of intolerance and hate.
A great "Adirondack" conservative philosopher once said: Their idea of tolerance is seeing things their way and shutting up. I'm willing to be tolerant, as long as you don't piss on my shoes and tell me it's rain.
