The Ticonderoga Class Aegis cruiser USS Lake Erie will be the ship that fires the Standard SM-3 missile at an ailing US spy satellite sometime around 10:30 AM this morning. It probably would have been cheaper just to send China an email that the USA can shoot down a satellite. And, let's hope the shot is successful because what message would that be sending to the world.
UPDATE: The military is claiming that they have successfully hit the satellite. The SM-3 missile was launched around 10:30 PM EST.
