Iraq War Has Made the World Safer

Does anyone believe the Iraq War has made the world safer? I know GW Bush and Dick Cheney believe it, but they don't really live in the same world in which most of us live.

This is 'trouble' between Israel in Gaza and Lebanon due to Iranian and Syrian influences. Bush not discouraging Israel.

Afghanistan is slowly being retaken by the Taliban. Where is that Osama guy?

Our ally Pakistan 'supporting elements' that are bombing trains in India. US supplying fighter aircraft to both countries.

Iran insisting becoming a nuclear power.

N. Korea launching missiles and developing nuclear weapons, resulting in the Japanese wanting to move to the political 'right' (re: be more like Bush). S. Korea suspending food aid to N. Korea.

More and more sectarian violence in Iraq - close to civil war (who will we support?).

Russia moving back to it's 'old' ways (maybe this is good, we can go back to the old cold war days)

Let's not even discuss the problems in Africa - Congo, Sudan, Somalia etc (we never do anyway).
GW Bush: worst President ever, worst World leader ever.

I wouldn't call him the worst world leader ever but the situation in Somalia is instructive. The country has been without a central government for 15 years. A few years ago, a transitional national government (TNG) was formed after a big national reconciliation conference in neighboring Kenya. The TNG has struggled to get any authority whatsoever. So when the Islamist militias (called the Islamic Courts) go to battle for control of Mogadishu with ordinary warlord criminals, the US backs the warlords. The warlords lost. What the US should have done is supported the heck out of the TNG to help them suppress BOTH the warlords AND the Islamic Courts as well as to gain authority over more of the country. Instead, Bush has gone back to the Cold War strategy of supporting any warlord scum who calls himself anti-(enemy of the day). Which bolsters my claim that the so-called War on Terror is nothbing more than the Cold War with different devils. Same rhetoric, same mistakes.
