Palins are Just Regular Folk?

Are Sarah and Todd Palin just regular working class folk? Here is what Sarah Palin has to say:
"I know what Americans are going through. Todd and I, heck, we're going through that right now even as we speak, which may put me again kind of on the outs of those Washington elite who don't like the idea of just an everyday working class American running for such an office."

Unfortunately, the conservative Washington Times disagrees.
Their combined income of nearly a quarter-million dollars last year was five times the median household income for Wasilla's 7,000 residents. They own a single-engine plane, two boats, two personal watercraft and a half-million-dollar, custom-built home on a lake that is worth three times the average of other homes in town.

After reading the whole article, I am impressed with how the Palin's made their money. Doesn't sound like it was by getting a mortgage thru ACORN.

These people made their money the old-fashioned way, through sweat and toil.

She collected an additional $17,000 in per diems for more than 300 nights she spent in her own home, as well as more than $43,000 to cover travel costs for her husband and kids.

In addition, each member of the Palin family received $1,654 in oil royalties that are paid to all Alaskans.

Yep, sweat and toil always pays off, doesn't it?

Well, professor if what she did was illegal then why hasn't she been arrested? As to the oil royalties - aren't u liberals always hollering about big oil? apparently lil ol sara got done what nancy "botoxlips" pelosi couldn't, she got into bigoils pants. And by the by what about how nancy's 100k got into her hubbies pants? The Palins are what so many of us are, motivated by the idea of bettering ourselves, by ourselves. No thanks community organizers, no thanks EEO, no thanks OBAMA.

You may be free but you sure can't think. Where in the above post is the word illegal? Why change the subject? Can't you argue that she actually is a "regular" person and that regular people actually do own an aircraft and two boats? Nope, it's much easier to change the subject isn't it. Freeman is an example of the failure of education and the inability to think critically.

You insinuate that she did something wrong by collecting her per diems. She followed the rules allowed under Alaskan law.

If building your own house, running your own business, hunting and fishing to supplement your grocery bill somehow makes them different and above the rest of the country, you my liberal elitist are out of touch with your surroundings.

Al Gore has his own plane, although I'm sure he doesn't fly it himself, nor does he supplement his income with it.
There are many Alaskans who have bush planes and they haul other alaskans from place to place as it is much faster than car travel in that vast wasteland of a state.

You can't stand it when we bitterly cling to our guns and religion because you are an elitist snob.

Hey buddy, what State you callin a wasteland? You are the one acting like an elitist slob.

Sorry if in writing that post it implied Palin did something illegal. I thought the post was distinguishing regular people from regular working class people. I'm sure the 50 governors in the USA will happy to hear they are just plain workin class fold, you betcha.

But since you bring it up.....it appears the Palins may have "forgotten" to pay income taxes on their per diem income. That is illegal.

like Charlie Rangel forgot?
